#87 - traveling and Dedication # 2 - to Jeff Stubblefield

This crane has moved again.  It was found at a park on San Jose and Coventry in Clovis.  From this picture it looks as if someone took it with them.  I received and e-mail today that said it was going to be dropped off tonight at Tahoe Joe's on Herndon and Cedar . . .   Another chance to be found.

The person who found this crane would like to dedicate it to Jeff Stubblefield who I mentioned and dedicated a crane to in an earlier post.  Keep your thoughts and prayers going out to Jeff and his family.

#79 Found!

I just heard from someone who found crane #79 at the Henry Madden Library at Fresno State.  They plan on passing the crane on . . . so let's see if it turns up again somewhere . . . or if it is given to someone else - maybe they will leave a comment and send a picture.  I like the quote on this one . . . "You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have" . . .

#91 and dedication #1 - to Jeff Stubblefield

I had a comment today asking me to dedicate one of my cranes to Jeff Stubblefield.  He suffered a very serious injury after a car crash chasing someone who had stolen his car.  I remember reading about this.  I was going to just drop a crane with his name on it - but the next one that I was going to drop had a quote on it that I thought should go along with his.  The quote on #91 is . . .

So in dedicating this crane to Jeff Stubblefield - I ask that anyone who reads this - please pray for him and his family.  I truly believe in the power of prayer.

Traveling Crane #87

I received an e-mail that crane # 87 has moved - it is no longer at Delly Beans.  I am hoping and will have to wait and see if someone else finds it.  It was dropped near Red Bank Elementary.  Thanks Michelle for letting me know.  Since this is the first time that I know for sure that someone has moved one of my cranes and dropped it somewhere else - I am hoping that if someone else  finds it - that they not only let me know - but also . . . keep it going. Pictures are very much appreciated!

Again - no comment back on this crane . . . but I know on Friday night it was sitting on a piano in the library at Fresno State.  On Saturday - it was not on the piano - but this morning it is back on the piano.  So someone thought enough to put it back . . .  hopefully it will be found and I will get a comment back.  I really like this quote by Dr. Seuss - "Think and wonder, wonder and think."

#87 update

I have not gotten a comment back on this crane - but I did get some information.  The quote on this crane is from someone that I work with (Jessica).  This morning someone else that we work with (Chrissy) asked her if she had made a crane - because the owner of a coffee shop had found this crane and was telling Chrissy about it.  Jessica knows all about my project - so she came and told me.  So I must remember that even though I am not getting many comments back - the cranes are being found and as in this case - the person that found it really liked it.

New Paper

My friend Gwen was down in LA this weekend - and brought me back this beautiful origami paper.  It is so pretty - although the sheets are smaller than what I use for the cranes in this project . . . too small to write quotes on.  But I think a string of small cranes out of this paper would be beautiful - I will have to find the time to do that.  There never seems to be enough hours in the day to do all the things I would like to do . . . but this paper is way too pretty just to stay in the package. 

I can feel change coming in my life . . . or so it seems.  I used to accept change relunctantly - I'm sure due to my personality preferring control of a situation.  But I have come to realize there really isn't much I can control in life except myself and my reaction to what happens.  So . . . even though I accept change better than I used to . . . I sometimes can't help but feel a little sadness - wishing things were the way they used to be.  I know better not to get caught up in those feelings and don't let that sadness linger.  In fact I am looking at life these days and thinking maybe it is time for me to make some changes . . . we'll see what happens.

3 month check-up

Yesterday was my 3 month appointment with my dermatologist.  I am now waiting on the results of 4 more biopsies.  So I will worry again until I get the results.  I really try not to worry - but seem to anyway.  I don't even know if worry is the right word to use.  It is more like melanoma is always floating around somewhere in my thoughts - so when I have a biopsy- it brings it all back again.  I was shocked the day I got the call that they had found melanoma - I never expected to hear that. (I guess no one ever does)  But now - I know that it could happen again.  I guess I have read too many stories where someone is diagnosed with melanoma and they are told that all of it was removed and it hasn't spread - then later - they find themselves dealing with this disease all over again. 
People tell me to quit reading so much about it. . . and maybe I should, but I read someones blog this morning - who talked about the same worries that I have - and it made me realize that it helps me to talk about my worries and concerns and that the more I read and get information and answers - the more it helps me.  My dermatologist is wonderful and takes the time to answer all of my questions and explains exactly why she biopsies something.  I do hope one day to go to an appointment without her taking a piece of me for testing - but I appreciate that she takes it serious enough to check everything. 
I know my personality - I'm going to worry sometimes . . .  So I may as well educate myself on this disease - and in the process I read people's stories and see how strong and amazing they are. My prayers go out to them.

I heard from someone who found crane #41 . . . 

 I love that the quote meant something to someone - and they took the time to let me know. 

That is one of the main things I wanted to happen with this project.  I am so excited!  There are a few more out there and more to come - let me know where you find them and leave me a comment!  Better yet . . . send me a picture of the crane!

Keep Calm and Carry On

It seems like so many people I know are struggling these days with one thing or another.  I have a couple of people very close to me that are dealing with some very serious stuff . . . it just makes me realize how crazy life can be.  We can be going along - all is fine - and then everything can change in a moment.  Just remember that everyone out there is fighting some kind of battle . . . be kind and compassionate and when life gets tough - PRAY, don't complain, and never, ever give up.
OK . . . just had to throw that pep talk out there . . .
