Dedication #3 - Leonie K

(dropped @ Peace Garden - Fresno State on 3/3/12)
"Courage is fear that has said it's prayers."  ~ Dorothy Bernard

I am dedicating this crane to Leonie K.  I found her blog - http://dancingpapercranes.blogspot.com/ by accident.  I was searching for other people who had folded or done projects with paper cranes - the name of the blog - Dancing Paper Cranes - caught my eye.
Leonie lives in Malaysia and was diagnosed with Non-Hodkins Lymphoma.  I started reading her blog and her story  and soon realized that she is a very remarkable young woman.  She hopes that by sharing her journey with cancer - something she refers to as 'a series of unfortunate events' - will inspire others and give them a more positive outlook on life.  Please take the time to read her blog.  She truly is a remarkable young woman.

  1. To all readers and dear blog admin, I'm sad to let you guys know, my Dear friend Kong Leonie, has Passed away on 6th July 2012.

In the little paragraph you mentioned about her being remarkable, i can say that is truly only the tip of the iceberg. When she was diagnosed with cancer, her only worry was losing her hair. Nothing more. Her cheer and fun never faded, her laughter never silenced. She took on whatever harshness came her way, and never once ranted. She started that blog to keep us informed of her progress as we were not allowed to visit her because of her immune system being weak.

After a year of treatment, she was told she was clear. But during one of her scheduled check ups, she was told the cancer had returned. This was after my friends and me decided to pay her a visit when she was stable enough. The news was devastating as it was financially straining her family and her physically. But she, along with her family never once gave into despair.

When we were told that the cancer had returned, we all didn't know how to react, and sat around thinking what else can we contribute to uplift her feelings. But never has Her Spirit Shaken, her morale stood strong. She told us it would be okay and we would hang out again after all this.

After her last blogpost, we never heard of anything until the day we were informed of her passing. I guess the serious nature of her therapy and health concerns was one of the many reasons she wasn't able to post anything or keep us updated.

We all paid out last respects and laid to rest a strong and brave friend. Who stood up high and faced down death's gaze. It was an Honor To have met such a person. But now, she is in a better place, free of her suffering and pain.

I would like to thank you for your touching highlight of my friend. To whoever is going through cancer treatments right now, be Strong and look out for that little light of Hope. Don't give up your fight and press on. Thanks
